The Rhone region allows around twenty grape varieties. In the red wines, Grenache, the majority variety, brings fruitiness, warmth and roundness. Syrah and Mourvèdre give the wine spicy aromas and a deep colour and structure that are ideal for ageing. Cinsault adds finesse and makes it possible to produce fruity rosés and vins primeurs. For white wines, 80% of the grape varieties are Grenache blanc, Clairette, Marsanne, Roussanne, Bourboulenc and Viognier. Thanks to the blending of these different grape varieties, they combine aromas and freshness.
The whites of Burgundy's Côte de Beaune are among the world's finest, reflecting a mosaic of terroirs. Thanks to the richness of the Chardonnay grape, they offer both finesse and nervousness, opulence and tension.
