The founding members of the Rencontres Philosophiques de Monaco association, Charlotte Casiraghi, its president, Robert Maggiori and Raphael Zagury-Orly, have presented the second edition of PhiloMonaco Week.
Once again this year, meetings will be organised with philosophers and personalities ; this event approaches philosophy from an accessible angle and deals with important issues such as motherhood and solidarity during a season of talks, with a full week – the Semaine PhiloMonaco – in June.
The Rencontres Philosophiques de Monaco bring together both French and international thinkers, who create the philosophy of today through their research and attract large audiences looking for tools to help guide their understanding of the world, our society, other people, and ourselves.
Aiming for multidisciplinarity
Although digital resources have allowed us to share knowledge on a massive scale, it is not always easy to make sense of them. Once a month from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Rencontres is organising talks at the Théâtre Princesse Grace, given by philosophers, historians, psychoanalysts, artists, anthropologists and scientists. The events take a perfectly pitched, multidisciplinary approach that is neither too simplistic nor too niche.
On 4 April, the philosophers Judith Revel, Sandra Laugier, Guillaume Le Blanc, Patrick Savidan and Raphael Zagury-Orly will reflect
on the theme of “Solidarity”.
During the Semaine PhiloMonaco in June, a variety of speakers will attend the weeklong event, taking part in conversations, interviews, round tables and philosophy lunches on ecology, education, healthcare, women’s rights and the art of living. Note that in addition to this programme, the Espace PhiloMonaco welcomes children and adults of all ages to its library at 2 bis rue Emile Loth. Why not do some reading, sign up for activities and enjoy a foray into philosophy.
